Lughnasadh 2013

Lughnasadh is a huge deal in our family we are very aware of our heritage and being Scottish the games are in our blood! So every year at Lughnasadh we invite friends and family to celebrate with us as we re create the games.
The Minions setting up the net for volleyball
Getting ready for the three legged race
This year we did things a little different. Usually we model our games after the Scottish games this year we added a few other games like Volleyball and a three legged race. We still did the heavy hammer throw, footraces, hunker down and stone put.

Sitting around the fire telling stories and stargazing
After the games we had ritual and a great potluck meal then we gathered around the fire pit and told some stories and sang some songs. This year I told two stories the legend of the Arctic Goddess Sedna and the Arthurian tale of Culhwch and Olwen. The Minions sang Rabbits song for us and Later in the evening we did some stargazing pointing out our favorite constellations and stars and telling their stories.
Sparkler fun
We ended the night with sparklers and marshmallow roasting. As always it was a great day filled with family, fun and friends.
